Just Dance: Lady Gaga celebrates 10-year anniversary of debut album this weekend

Streamline/Kon Live/Cherrytree/InterscopeAugust 19, 2008 was the day the world got its first full-length look at Lady Gaga, as her debut album, The Fame, arrived.  Gaga is marking that milestone with special merch for her fans, as well as a “digital time capsule” and a 10th anniversary limited version of the album.

The Fame spun off the hit singles “Just Dance,” “Paparazzi,” “Poker Face” and “LoveGame,” won Gaga a Grammy and has sold close to five million copies.  The reissue, The Fame Monster, which came out in November of that year, featured eight new songs, including “Bad Romance,” “Telephone,” and “Alejandro.”

The $50 limited edition version of the album comes on a USB that’s shaped like a cartoon image of Gaga, packaged in a collectible display box. It features the original album The Fame and three bonus tracks, as well as The Fame Monster, both digital booklets, eight music videos and an early electronic press kit shot just as Gaga was beginning her rise to stardom.  It’s now available for pre-order on Gaga’s website.

In addition, you can get The Fame and The Fame Monster on vinyl, as well as a number of t-shirts with The Fame artwork, Gaga’s former “electric bolt” logo, and images of her iconic sunglasses from the album cover.

As for the “digital time capsule,” it’s a collection of videos, images and quotes from Gaga around the time that The Fame and The Fame Monster were released.  One sample quote: “I would not be able to breathe if I couldn’t make art.”

Gaga is expected to release the soundtrack of her movie A Star Is Born in the coming months; the film itself arrives in theaters in October.
